As Tier 5 unemployment extension fades, agencies try to help 99ers


The New York State department of labor has started a new page on its website directed at the long-term unemployed, including 99ers, a department spokesperson said yesterday.

The new page on our web site is designed to remind anyone who is unemployed about all the services we offer. We encourage all of the unemployed, especially the long-term unemployed, to come back to our One-Stop Career Centers and use our services,” said New York labor department spokesperson Karen Williamson, adding, “We’re also encouraging those who have been unemployed for a long time – such as the ‘99ers’ – to please let the staff at the One-Stop know this when you come in. This will allow us to focus our services for your situation.”
